About the Role: General Manager II – Distribution

As General Manager II, you’ll oversee the full scope of warehouse operations — from receiving and storage through to shipping — while developing and implementing strategies that minimize costs and maximize throughput. You’ll lead a team of Operations Managers and frontline staff, building a strong team culture and ensuring every associate has the coaching and support they need to succeed.

This position carries Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility, meaning your leadership directly influences the financial health of the site. You’ll maintain close working relationships with customers, presenting Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews (MBR/QBR), and ensuring that all activities align with the commercial agreement in place. Safety, compliance, and continuous improvement are central pillars of this role.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be responsible for running a high-volume distribution facility while simultaneously managing strategic priorities, customer relationships, and team development. The scope of work is broad — from hands-on operational oversight to boardroom-level business reviews with key clients.

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storing, and shipping goods efficiently and accurately
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse processes, reduce costs, and boost productivity
  • Lead and mentor a team of Operations Managers and staff, providing coaching, guidance, and fostering a strong team culture
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment
  • Leverage technology including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and automation tools to track inventory and monitor performance metrics
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure cost-effective services and supplies in line with the commercial agreement
  • Prepare and analyze reports on warehouse performance, inventory levels, and key metrics to support continuous improvement
  • Lead customer relationships through daily contact, ensuring strong connections and high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Own the site’s P&L, directly influenced by operational performance and customer relationships
  • Present MBR/QBR (Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews) to customers, supported by strong cross-functional team collaboration

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of operations leadership and supply chain expertise. DHL is looking for someone who can manage complexity at scale — balancing people, process, technology, and customer expectations — while keeping safety and performance front of mind.

  • 5+ years of managerial or supervisory experience, required — demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment
  • 2+ years in supply chain, warehousing, or distribution, required — hands-on knowledge of logistics operations
  • Third Party Logistics (3PL) or Contract Logistics experience, preferred — familiarity with the 3PL business model is a strong asset
  • Staff management experience, required — proven ability to develop, coach, and retain a high-performing team
  • P&L management experience, preferred — comfort working with financial data and driving cost performance
  • Project management skills, preferred — ability to lead improvement initiatives from planning through execution
  • WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience, preferred — familiarity with technology-driven operations
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred
