Front-End Engineer II, Route 53 Console – Amazon – Vancouver, BC

The Amazon Route 53 Console team in Vancouver, BC is looking for a skilled Front-End Engineer II to help build and maintain one of the most heavily used sections of the AWS Management Console. This is a chance to work with a tight-knit, experienced team that’s deeply invested in both the technical craft and the growth of its members.

In this role, you’ll be working at the intersection of frontend engineering and DNS security, building intuitive interfaces that allow customers to manage critical infrastructure. Day to day, you’ll use React and TypeScript to develop secure, responsive interfaces for DNS record management, health checks, and traffic policies — all while collaborating closely with product, UX, and service engineers.

About the Role: Front-End Engineer II, Route 53 Console

As part of the AWS Infrastructure Services organization, you’ll contribute to systems that keep the cloud running reliably for customers around the world. The Route 53 Console team works on a highly available distributed platform, and your work will directly shape how customers interact with their DNS configurations. You’ll bring strong fundamentals in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and TypeScript while applying best practices in secure frontend development.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position is $114,800 to $191,800 CAD annually for Vancouver, BC. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location. Responsibilities

As a Front-End Engineer II on the Route 53 Console team, your work will span the full spectrum of frontend development — from building secure DNS management interfaces to integrating with Route 53 APIs and contributing to incident response. These responsibilities reflect the technical depth and cross-functional nature of the role.

• Develop and maintain secure frontend interfaces for the Route 53 DNS management console using React and TypeScript
• Implement security controls for DNS configuration interfaces to prevent misconfigurations that could lead to security vulnerabilities
• Build intuitive user interfaces for managing DNS records, health checks, and traffic policies
• Collaborate with security architects to implement safeguards against DNS-related threats such as cache poisoning and zone transfers
• Integrate frontend applications with Route 53 APIs following secure coding practices and proper input validation
• Write automated tests to validate security controls and maintain code quality across the console
• Participate in security reviews for Route 53 console features and contribute to incident response for DNS-related events
• Stay current with DNS security threats, mitigation techniques, and emerging front-end technologies

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings solid computer science fundamentals and proven experience in professional frontend development. Amazon is looking for someone who’s comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and who takes ownership of their work from design through to delivery.

• 4+ years of professional frontend, web, or mobile development experience using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• 4+ years of computer science fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
• Experience with TypeScript and Node along with common front-end technologies (preferred)
• Experience building reusable UX components or libraries is an asset
• Agile development experience including peer code reviews and unit testing (1+ year preferred)
