Tesla’s Manufacturing Test Engineering group is looking for a driven, hands-on Electrical Engineer specializing in Automated Test Equipment to join its team in Richmond Hill, Ontario. This is a role squarely inside the “machine that builds the machine” — developing robust, data-centric automated testing equipment for Tesla’s power electronics and battery manufacturing lines around the world.
You’ll work at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, software, and controls engineering, collaborating closely with power electronics product design and manufacturing teams. If you’re someone who takes pride in hands-on work, thrives on analytical challenges, and wants to carry real responsibility on a high-impact team, this opportunity is worth a close look.
About the Role: Electrical Engineer, Automated Test Equipment
Day to day, you’ll be specifying and designing industrial electrical control panels, developing test specifications, and validating automated processes using statistical approaches. You’ll work across the full scope of test engineering — from bench-level component testing through to implementing compliant industrial safety systems that protect workers from high-voltage and mechanical hazards on live production lines.
This position also involves domestic and international travel of up to 20%, giving you exposure to Tesla’s global manufacturing operations. You’ll be expected to debug and optimize automated processes, minimize cycle time, and maximize uptime — all while maintaining rigorous compliance with NFPA79, NEC, UL508A, OSHA, and ISO standards.
Benefits and Salary
