Purchasing Coordinator – Tesla – Richmond Hill, ON
Tesla Canada’s Manufacture Test Engineering Team in Richmond Hill, Ontario is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Purchasing Coordinator to keep procurement running smoothly. This is a role where your organizational skills directly support engineers and technicians building the systems behind Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
Day-to-day, you’ll be the connective tissue between engineering teams, suppliers, and logistics — managing purchase orders, tracking parts, coordinating shipments, and keeping the lab stocked so projects never stall. If you thrive in a structured but fast-moving setting and enjoy making complex supply chains work seamlessly, this could be a strong fit.
About the Role: Purchasing Coordinator
As a Purchasing Coordinator, you’ll manage the full procurement cycle for electrical and mechanical components used to build testers, tools, and lab supplies. Working through Tesla’s Jira system, you’ll coordinate Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and purchase requests based on engineering requirements, then follow through from order placement to delivery. You’ll also maintain accurate records in the ERP system and keep Bills of Materials (BOMs) up to date across multiple projects simultaneously.
Beyond purchasing, this role involves coordinating with Tesla’s global logistics team to arrange shipments to Tesla facilities and supplier locations worldwide. You’ll receive daily packages, allocate them to the correct project cages and bins in the lab, and conduct weekly or bi-weekly inventory checks to backfill lab material storage. Close collaboration with engineers, technicians, technical program managers, software engineers, the US procurement team, and external suppliers is a core part of the job.
Benefits and Salary
This is a full-time position with a competitive annual salary range of $48,400 – $72,600 (Associate Buyer – Planner level), plus cash and stock awards. Benefits are available from day one of hire and include company-paid Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability insurance, an RRSP with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, an Employee Assistance Program, Parental Success Programs, sick and vacation time, paid holidays, the Tesla Babies program, and employee discounts on Tesla products and fitness perks.
