About the Role: Cashier Assistant

The Cashier Assistant is a vital member of the Costco team, ensuring that member orders are packed efficiently and correctly. You’ll assist cashiers by transferring items, running for supplies, and keeping the checkout area organized and clean. Your friendly and proactive approach will create a positive shopping experience for all members.

In addition to assisting at the register, you’ll be responsible for retrieving carts, maintaining the cleanliness of the parking lot, and adhering to all safety procedures. Responsibilities of a Cashier Assistant

• Greet members, assist with loading orders onto the conveyor belt, and determine packing preferences.
• Pack member orders into boxes and transfer them to carts or flatbeds, ensuring packaging integrity.
• Retrieve items for cashiers, including merchandise, boxes, and supplies, to keep lines moving efficiently.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the register and front-end areas, cleaning spills and removing hazards promptly.
• Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking lot, ensuring the area remains tidy and debris-free.
• Support cashiers during promotions and assist with closing duties, such as restocking registers and cleaning.
• Operate mechanical trash compactors and cardboard balers as needed.
