About the Role: Area Manager II

As an Area Manager II, you’ll serve as a strategic leader within Amazon’s fulfillment and operations management structure. The base salary range for this Area Manager II position is $75,000 to $105,000 CAD annually, with the final figure depending on your experience, qualifications, and specific location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

Day to day, an Area Manager II at Amazon is responsible for keeping safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises on track across a busy fulfilment department. You’ll be leading a large team while simultaneously coordinating with support functions and analyzing department-level data to guide continuous improvement efforts.

  • Lead and mentor an hourly workforce of up to 80 associates, fostering engagement, accountability, and development throughout each shift
  • Manage safety, quality, and productivity metrics to ensure customer delivery commitments are consistently met
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources to build and execute operational improvement plans
  • Diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics and implement scalable solutions that can affect 200+ associates across multiple workflows
  • Facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership to communicate department-level goals and progress
  • Drive process improvements using data-driven decision-making to balance competing priorities and enhance the customer experience
  • Work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays, and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing or walking for up to 12 hours, and navigating variable temperature environments

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for candidates who bring real people management experience and a demonstrated ability to improve operations at scale. The ideal candidate is analytically strong, comfortable in a physically demanding environment, and experienced leading large teams through change.

  • 2+ years of employee and performance management experience, with a track record of developing and engaging hourly or frontline workers
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience in lieu of a degree
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays as the business requires
  • Experience with performance metrics and process improvement (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen experience is a strong asset)
  • Proven ability to lead large teams of 50+ members in high-volume, fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Background in relevant industries such as logistics, distribution, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, or hospitality is preferred
