About the Role: Area Manager II
This position is embedded within Amazon’s WW Operations network, which spans three core workflow stages: first mile (product storage and order readiness), middle mile (transportation to your area), and last mile (final delivery to the customer). As an Area Manager II, you’ll be accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery across your department, while coaching your team through real operational challenges and developing their leadership capabilities.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership to align on department-level goals, facilitate improvement initiatives that can impact 200+ associates, and diagnose root causes using advanced analytics. The environment is physically active — expect to stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift, lift up to 49 pounds, and operate in variable temperatures including outdoor loading areas. Benefits and Salary
The base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $105,000 CAD annually, with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities
As an Area Manager II, your day-to-day responsibilities span people leadership, process improvement, and operational performance. You’ll be driving results across all three stages of Amazon’s fulfillment workflow while keeping customer delivery promises at the forefront of every decision.
- Lead and develop a team of up to 80 hourly associates, supporting, mentoring, and motivating them throughout their shifts
- Manage performance across safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery metrics at the department level
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Safety, Engineering, Loss Prevention, Quality Assurance, and Human Resources teams to meet business objectives
- Diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics and implement scalable solutions
- Facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership on department-level goals and improvement initiatives
- Coach team members through operational challenges while developing their leadership capabilities
- Perform physical duties including lifting up to 49 pounds, standing or walking for up to 12 hours per shift, and working in variable temperature environments
Requirements / Skills

- 2+ years of experience in employee and performance management (required)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon blue badge/FTE experience (required)
- Flexible availability including weekends, nights, and/or holidays (required)
- Experience managing large teams of 50+ members (preferred)
- Process improvement knowledge such as Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen methodologies (preferred)
- Industry background in shipping/logistics, distribution, manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, retail, or customer-facing environments (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics or a related field (preferred)
