About the Role: WHS Specialist

As a WHS Specialist, your core focus will span two major areas: safety program excellence and associate advocacy. On the program side, you’ll use data-driven strategies to identify risks, conduct job hazard analyses, and implement preventative solutions before incidents occur. You’ll also be responsible for making safety training genuinely resonate — not just ticking boxes, but influencing behaviour and building a proactive culture.

On the people side, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor across all levels of the organization, from associates on the warehouse floor to site leadership. Coaching, communication, and positive reinforcement are key tools in your kit. The physical demands of the role are real — expect to lift up to 49 lbs, stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift, and work in environments with variable temperatures and noise levels. Flexible scheduling, including days, nights, and weekends, is required.

Benefits and Salary

This position offers an hourly wage range of $29.37 to $40.38 CAD, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of a WHS Specialist at Amazon is hands-on, data-informed, and people-focused. You’ll be expected to balance operational pace with rigorous safety standards, acting as both a program driver and a cultural leader within your facility. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

Requirements / Skills

The right candidate for this role brings a solid foundation in Environmental Health & Safety, comfort working in physical and fast-paced environments, and the communication skills to influence people at all levels of an organization. • High school diploma or equivalent is required as a baseline education credential
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910, is essential for this role
• Minimum 1 year in an EHS-related field, OR a bachelor’s degree in a relevant EHS background, OR 6 months in a safety role within Amazon
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel used in a professional setting
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues
• Preferred: Experience in workers’ compensation case management, emergency response, and current First Aid & CPR certification
• Preferred: Experience leading teams and analyzing accident data or new machinery for potential safety concerns
