WHS Specialist – Amazon – Brampton, ON

Amazon’s Canadian operations are looking for a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Specialist to join their fulfillment team in Brampton, Ontario. About the Role: WHS Specialist

At the core of this position is a commitment to making Amazon’s fulfillment centre in Brampton a safer place to work. You’ll lead daily safety audits, conduct risk assessments, investigate incidents, and implement preventative measures across the operation. Your work will be backed by data — you’ll translate safety metrics into actionable strategies and compelling narratives that inspire change at all levels.

Beyond the technical side, this role is very much about people and culture. You’ll build trusted relationships with frontline associates and leadership alike, coaching teams to adopt proactive safety habits and ensuring that safe practices become second nature in the building. You’ll also be expected to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and weekends, and must be physically able to perform tasks such as lifting up to 49 lbs, standing or walking for up to 12 hours, and navigating varying temperature environments.

Benefits and Salary

Amazon offers a competitive hourly wage of $29.00 to $40.00 CAD for this position, with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location. As part of Amazon’s total compensation package, additional elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) may be included. Responsibilities

This role spans both operational safety management and cultural leadership within a large-scale fulfillment centre. You’ll be the building’s designated safety champion, responsible for driving programs that protect associates and improve safety outcomes across the site.

• Lead daily safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments using data-driven strategies
• Implement innovative solutions to prevent injuries and improve workplace health and safety standards
• Deliver engaging safety training to associates that promotes a proactive safety culture
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety while maintaining operational efficiency
• Build trusted relationships with frontline associates and leadership to drive behavioural change
• Transform safety data into compelling narratives that influence engagement in safety initiatives
• Serve as an advocate for associate wellbeing and a go-to resource for EHS guidance across the organization

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for a candidate with a solid foundation in Environmental Health & Safety and the interpersonal skills to lead by example in a fast-moving environment. Whether you come from a formal EHS background or have built your expertise on the floor, your commitment to safety excellence and your ability to communicate effectively will set you apart.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910
• Minimum 1 year of EHS-related experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in an EHS-relevant field, OR 6 months performing a safety-related role within Amazon
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional setting
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving workplace security or personnel
• Preferred: experience in workers’ compensation case management, emergency response, and current First Aid and CPR certification
• Preferred: experience leading teams and conducting job hazard and job safety analyses
