Visual Designer – Tesla – Hawthorne, CA
Location: California, CA | Company: Tesla
Tesla’s in-house design studio in Los Angeles, California is looking for a talented Visual Designer to join a team that sets the standard for world-class brand communications. If you’re a creative professional with a modern, minimalist eye and the drive to work on everything from full-scale campaigns to one-off design properties, this role puts you at the centre of one of the world’s most recognized brands.
Day-to-day, you’ll be developing and designing visual brand assets across events, marketing, web, sales, and product communications. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, architects, digital modelers, and other designers — bringing Tesla’s visual identity to life across physical and digital touchpoints alike.
About the Role: Visual Designer
This position sits within Tesla’s visual design team and reports directly to the manager for visual design at the design studio. You’ll be responsible for developing graphic assets that communicate Tesla’s brand in a creative, cohesive way — from large-scale campaign work to targeted one-off projects. The team values versatility, so you may also be called upon for photography, illustration, or motion graphics depending on project needs and your own skillset.
You’ll engage in cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders across the business, working alongside suppliers and fabrication teams to bring physical assets to life. The role requires strong project management skills, as you’ll often be juggling multiple parallel-path projects under tight timelines while maintaining high design standards throughout.
Benefits and Salary
Tesla offers a competitive compensation range of $87,400 to $171,000 USD annually, plus cash and stock awards. As a full-time employee, you’ll have access to medical, dental, and vision plans — some with $0 payroll deduction — as well as company-paid HSA contributions, FSA options, 401(k) with employer match, and Employee Stock Purchase Plans. Additional perks include basic life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, an Employee Assistance Program, paid vacation and sick time, paid holidays, back-up childcare resources, commuter benefits, and an employee discounts and perks program. Tesla also offers unique benefits like the Tesla Babies program, fertility and surrogacy support, and weight loss and tobacco cessation programs.
