Automotive Painter (Afternoon Shift) – Tesla – Kirkland, QC

Tesla’s Collision Repair Program is hiring an Automotive Painter for its Kirkland, Quebec location. Working Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., this position includes a shift premium and gives you the opportunity to refine your craft in state-of-the-art downdraft spray booths alongside a skilled collision repair team.

About the Role: Automotive Painter

As an Automotive Painter at Tesla, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality spray finishes across a variety of repair orders each day. You’ll apply primers, sealers, basecoats, and clearcoats to collision-damaged vehicles, matching finishes precisely to OEM standards. The pace is steady — approximately six fully prepped repair orders per day — and the work demands consistency, precision, and a sharp eye for colour and texture.

You’ll work in close collaboration with prep staff and fellow painters, ensuring smooth workflow and high production standards throughout the shift. Invisible basecoat colour blending and two- and three-stage colour application are central to the day-to-day work, and you’ll be expected to produce finishes with minimal dirt inclusions and a consistent gloss that meets Tesla’s exacting quality standards.

Benefits and Salary

This is a full-time position at the Painter III level, with a pay range of $33.60 to $50.40 per hour, plus cash and stock awards. Responsibilities

In this role, your daily work centres on producing high-quality collision repair paint finishes that match Tesla’s OEM standards. From the first coat of primer to the final clearcoat, every step matters — and your attention to detail will directly reflect on the vehicles returned to customers.

• Apply primers, sealers, basecoats, and clearcoats using high-quality spray techniques
• Complete approximately six fully prepped repair orders per day across fascias, six-panel jobs, and two-to-three panel projects
• Operate state-of-the-art downdraft spray booths to achieve consistent, professional results
• Blend basecoat colours invisibly for seamless, undetectable repairs
• Apply two- and three-stage colour systems with precision
• Produce sprayed finishes with minimal dirt inclusions and a consistent gloss and texture matching the OEM finish
• Collaborate closely with prep staff and fellow painters to meet daily production demands as a team
• Train other team members as required, sharing knowledge and best practices

Requirements / Skills

Tesla is looking for an experienced automotive painter who brings both technical expertise and a team-first attitude to the shop floor. The ideal candidate has a strong background in urethane-based refinish systems and is comfortable working at a professional production pace while maintaining OEM-level finish quality.

• 5+ years of experience refinishing vehicles in an automotive collision repair environment using urethane-based refinish systems
• CPA Card is required
• Valid Class 5, G, or G2 driver’s licence for Canada
• High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate from a vocational school in collision repair is preferred
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Ability to read and comprehend automotive repair procedures
• Willingness to train others and contribute to team development
• Ability to communicate daily in English with staff and clients outside of Quebec, as the role supports projects across all Canadian provinces
