Tire Installer – Costco – North Oshawa, ON

Costco’s Tire Centre in North Oshawa, Ontario is looking for a skilled Tire Installer to join its warehouse team. This is a hands-on, fast-moving role where technical know-how meets member-facing service — a solid fit for anyone with a background in automotive service or tire installation.

Day to day, you’ll be working in the tire install bay, handling everything from mounting and balancing to TPMS sensor resets and flat tire repairs. You’ll also interact directly with Costco members, helping them choose the right tires and moving efficiently through a busy schedule of appointments and walk-ins.

About the Role: Tire Installer

As a Tire Installer at the Costco Tire Centre in North Oshawa, you’ll be responsible for the full cycle of tire service — from bringing member vehicles into the bay, through mounting, balancing, and torque checks, to parking the vehicle and returning the keys. You’ll work with equipment including hydraulic hoists, impact guns, wheel balancers, and TPMS reset tools, all while following TIA R.I.S.T. standards and American Lift Institute guidelines.

Beyond the technical side, you’ll assist members on the sales floor — answering questions, making product recommendations using the 5 steps of selling, processing payments, and booking appointments for special orders. Keeping the install and sales areas clean, organized, and safe is also a key part of the job. At propane-equipped locations, once provincially certified, you may also assist with propane tank refills following all required safety procedures.

Responsibilities

The Tire Installer role at Costco covers a broad range of technical and customer-facing tasks throughout the day. Working efficiently and safely is central to the position, as you’ll be moving between the install bay, the sales floor, and the parking lot to deliver complete tire service to members.

• Mount and balance tires using mounting machines and wheel balancers, attaching wheel weights to rims as required
• Install and rotate tires on member vehicles using impact guns in accordance with TIA R.I.S.T. standards
• Reset and relearn TPMS sensors as required using Costco-supplied reset tools
• Perform 10-point checks and torque verifications, including 40KM torque checks as required
• Repair flat tires for members according to Tire Industry Standards
• Assist members in determining tire needs, answering questions, and making product recommendations using persuasive selling skills
• Process transactions accurately — including cash, cheque, credit, and debit — and handle warranty refund calculations for tires and auto batteries
• Stock, tag, and organize tires on the sales floor and in steel storage according to the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
• Book appointments for special orders and communicate with the Tire Centre manager, buyers, and receiving department regarding inventory and promotions
• Maintain cleanliness of the install bay and sales area through sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping
• Assist with propane refills (at applicable locations) once provincially certified, following all safety guidelines

Requirements / Skills

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to following established safety procedures are essential in this role.

• Valid driver’s licence is required to operate member vehicles within the tire centre and lot
• Costco Tire certification — candidates must pass the internal Costco Tire certification test
• Previous tire installation or tire sales experience is preferred and will be given preference during the selection process
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred
• Provincial PP0-3 and TDG Certification from the PTI 100-11 program is required at propane-equipped locations
• Bilingual (French and English) communication — oral and written — is required for candidates applying to Quebec locations
