Costco’s Tire Centre at 4438 King Street East in Kitchener, Ontario is looking for a skilled Tire Installer to join their team. This hands-on role puts you right in the centre of the action — working directly with members, handling vehicle service, and keeping the tire department running smoothly day in and day out.
From mounting and balancing tires to resetting TPMS sensors and performing torque checks, this position covers the full scope of tire service work. You’ll also interact with members directly, helping them find the right tires and ensuring every vehicle leaves the bay safely and on time.
About the Role: Tire Installer
As a Tire Installer at Costco Kitchener, you’ll be responsible for the complete tire service process — from greeting members and inspecting vehicles to installing, balancing, and rotating tires according to TIA R.I.S.T. Standards and American Lift Institute guidelines. You’ll operate equipment including impact guns, hydraulic hoists, wheel balancers, and mounting machines on a daily basis.
Beyond the technical work, this role requires strong member service skills. You’ll answer questions, make product recommendations using the 5 steps of selling, process transactions, handle warranty returns, and coordinate with the Tire Centre manager and other departments. Safety and attention to detail are essential throughout every shift.

Responsibilities
Working in the Tire Centre, your day will involve a mix of technical vehicle service, member-facing interactions, and keeping the department organized and efficient. Every task — from driving member vehicles into the service bay to processing payments — contributes to a safe and positive experience for Costco members.
- Install, balance, and rotate tires in accordance with TIA R.I.S.T. Standards and American Lift Institute guidelines
- Operate tire service equipment including hydraulic hoists, impact guns, mounting machines, and wheel balancers
- Reset and relearn TPMS sensors using Costco-supplied reset tools as required
- Perform 40KM torque checks and alert the manager/lead to authorize vehicle release
- Repair flat tires for members following Tire Industry Standards
- Assist members in selecting tires, answering questions, and making product recommendations using the 5 steps of selling
- Process transactions accurately, including payments, refunds, and warranty returns for tires and auto batteries
- Tag, organize, and stock tires on the sales floor and in steel in accordance with the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
- Communicate with the Tire Centre manager, buyers, and receiving regarding special orders, pricing, and delivery
- Maintain cleanliness of the install and sales areas through regular sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping
- Assist with propane refills (once provincially certified) following all applicable safety procedures
Requirements / Skills
Costco is looking for candidates who are mechanically inclined, comfortable working in a fast-paced service environment, and committed to delivering excellent member service. Previous experience in tire installation or tire sales is a strong asset and will be prioritized during the selection process.
- Valid driver’s licence is required to drive member vehicles in and out of the service bay
- Must pass Costco Tire certification test as part of onboarding requirements
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred
- Previous tire installation or tire sales experience is preferred and given preference over other candidates
- Propane locations: must obtain provincial PP0-3 certification and TDG Certification from the PTI 100-11 program once hired
- Strong member service skills and the ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and by email
