Member Service Assistant – Costco – Kitchener, ON

Costco’s Kitchener location on King Street East is looking for a Member Service Assistant to be the first and last face members see during their warehouse visit. About the Role: Member Service Assistant

As a Member Service Assistant, you’ll serve as an essential part of Costco’s front-line operations. From welcoming members with a smile to walking the warehouse perimeter for safety inspections, your work contributes to both the security of the building and the satisfaction of every member who walks through the door. You’ll track member entry counts, complete inspection forms, and report findings to the duty manager on a regular basis.

This position also involves security monitoring responsibilities — including discreetly observing armored vehicle pickups, checking bags at the exit, and conducting after-hours perimeter checks using your personal vehicle. You’ll need to communicate effectively by 2-way radio and be comfortable working independently during those closing routines. Attention to detail, a calm demeanour, and dependability are key in this role.

Responsibilities

The Member Service Assistant role covers a broad range of duties that span member-facing service, safety oversight, and security monitoring. Each responsibility plays a part in keeping the warehouse running smoothly and ensuring every member has a positive visit.

• Greet and verify members entering the warehouse, smile, make eye contact, and confirm membership cards
• Conduct hourly safety and security inspections of the warehouse and perimeter on foot, correcting hazards like spills, trip hazards, and blocked exits
• Complete inspection forms and report results to the duty manager after each check
• Track member entry counts using a handheld counter and report half-hourly totals to the Front End
• Monitor warehouse access and discretely observe armored vehicle pickups, jewelry, and register drawer set-up and retrieval while holding a panic button
• Check receipts at exit — verify accuracy and validity of receipts against merchandise, mark with a highlighter, and thank each member
• Conduct after-hours perimeter checks from your personal vehicle, communicate via 2-way radio, and report suspicious activity to the duty manager or police as needed
• Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for a dependable, people-oriented individual who can handle safety and security responsibilities with discretion and professionalism. No prior experience in the field is required — what matters most is your attitude, reliability, and willingness to engage positively with members throughout your shift.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle — required for after-hours perimeter security checks
• Strong interpersonal skills — you’ll be greeting and assisting members throughout your entire shift
• Attention to detail — accuracy in receipt verification and safety inspection reporting is essential
• Comfort working independently — particularly during closing routines and after-hours monitoring duties
• Ability to communicate in French (oral and written) — required for candidates applying to Quebec locations
