Technical Project Manager – Tesla – Markham, ON

About the Role: Technical Project Manager

As a Technical Project Manager at Tesla Markham, you’ll lead end-to-end machine development projects, serving as the primary liaison between engineering teams, vendors, and stakeholders. Your work will directly influence the quality, efficiency, and pace of Tesla’s automated manufacturing lines. From coordinating FMEA reviews and risk assessments to overseeing equipment procurement, logistics, and Site Acceptance Testing, you’ll be accountable for every milestone.

This role demands strong organizational discipline, technical fluency with automated equipment systems, and the ability to communicate clearly across disciplines. You’ll also support compliance documentation and system package preparation for all machine builds, ensuring every project meets Tesla’s exacting standards from start to finish.

Benefits and Salary

Tesla offers a competitive compensation package that varies by level. For this Technical Project Manager role, the salary range is $96,800 – $145,200 CAD annually, with additional cash and stock awards. Other levels within the Technical Project Manager track range from $80,960 (Associate) up to $204,880 (Principal). Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be responsible for the complete lifecycle of machine development and automation build projects, from initial scoping through to production handover. Strong cross-functional coordination and proactive risk management are essential to keeping projects on time, on budget, and aligned with Tesla’s quality standards.

• Drive end-to-end execution of machine development and build projects from concept through production handover
• Define and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
• Serve as the key liaison across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and effective communication throughout each project phase
• Coordinate internal and external reviews including FMEA, risk assessments, and project milestone tracking
• Oversee equipment procurement, logistics, and installation activities including Site Acceptance Testing
• Monitor and report on project performance, proactively addressing risks to cost, schedule, and quality
• Support compliance documentation and system package preparation for all machine builds

Requirements / Skills

Tesla is looking for a technically grounded project leader with proven experience in manufacturing or automation environments. You should be comfortable working across engineering disciplines, managing multiple workstreams, and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Flexibility to travel internationally is also required.

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
• PMP certification or equivalent formal project management training
• 4+ years of project management experience in manufacturing or automation settings
• Strong knowledge of automated equipment systems including robotics, vision systems, conveyors, PLCs, and HMIs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project and the full Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, eDrawings, and Bluebeam
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills with flexibility to travel internationally as needed
