This position works a Monday to Thursday afternoon shift (3:30 PM – 1:00 AM) and Fridays from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with a 10% shift premium included. You’ll be cross-trained to support broader Inventory Department functions and will collaborate with employees across all levels of the organization.

About the Role: Shipping & Receiving Coordinator

At the core of this role is materials management — receiving incoming shipments from external suppliers and internal off-site locations, verifying quantities and condition, approving invoices, and moving stock to the appropriate warehouse, shop floor, or office location. On the outbound side, you’ll be packing and loading items securely for shipment to off-site locations, ensuring parts are ready on time and protected for transit.

You’ll be expected to uphold strict 5S standards and safety practices at all times, including proper use of PPE and powered equipment. Accuracy matters greatly in this role — whether you’re entering data into the ERP system, conducting cycle counts, or maintaining detailed material logs, your attention to detail keeps the supply chain on track.

Shipping Coordinator II positions range from $23.76 to $35.64 per hour, while Shipping Coordinator III positions range from $27.72 to $41.58 per hour, plus cash and stock awards. Responsibilities

In this role, your day-to-day work centres on the accurate movement and tracking of materials through Tesla’s Markham facility. From the moment a shipment arrives to the moment an outbound package leaves the dock, you’re responsible for making sure everything is correct, safe, and accounted for. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • Receive and verify incoming materials from external suppliers and internal off-site locations, ensuring correct quantities and condition
  • Inspect, count, and stock materials according to company procedures, and approve incoming invoices
  • Pack, load, and ship outgoing materials to off-site locations, ensuring parts are secure and ready on time
  • Load and unload materials using hand trucks, carts, pallets, racks, and powered equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Maintain accurate records and detailed material logs, including precise ERP data entry
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with periodic physical inventory counts
  • Respond to inquiries during business hours regarding materials, shipping, receiving, and logistics
  • Adhere to 5S standards and safety practices in all work areas, including proper PPE and conveyance equipment protocols

Requirements / Skills

Tesla is looking for a candidate with solid manufacturing inventory experience who can handle the physical and administrative demands of this role. You should be comfortable operating powered equipment, managing multiple priorities, and communicating clearly across all levels of a busy facility.

  • 3–5 years of manufacturing inventory experience preferred, with a valid forklift certificate required
  • Experience operating counterbalance and regular forklifts, pallet jacks, and dollies required; reach truck experience preferred
  • Physical capability to push, pull, and lift up to 30 lbs., climb, reach regularly, and stand or walk for most of the shift
  • Organizational skills to plan and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Basic computer proficiency including Word, simple Excel formulas, business email, and accurate ERP data entry
  • Strong communication skills — both written and verbal — along with reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across factory levels and deliver excellent internal customer service
