About the Role: Industrial Electrician (Afternoon Shift)

As an Industrial Electrician at Tesla Markham, you’ll be building and assembling control panels, wiring field devices, and supporting the installation and commissioning of custom automated systems. Your day-to-day will involve working from engineering drawings and electrical schematics, connecting motors, transformers, sensors, and motor drives, and troubleshooting PLC-based systems to keep production running smoothly.

The position also involves some global travel (up to 30–60%) for equipment installation and commissioning at customer sites, so a valid passport is required. You’ll be expected to uphold rigorous 5S standards, work safely with high-voltage systems up to 600V, and collaborate closely with a skilled technical team. Shift hours are Monday–Thursday 3:30 PM – 1:00 AM and Friday 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM.

Benefits and Salary

Tesla offers a tiered compensation structure for this role, ranging from $19.36–$29.04/hour (Electrician I) up to $36.96–$55.44/hour (Electrician V), plus cash and stock awards at all levels. The afternoon shift also includes a 10% shift premium. Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be at the centre of building and commissioning sophisticated automated manufacturing systems. Every task — from panel assembly to on-site troubleshooting — contributes directly to Tesla’s manufacturing capability and product quality. Precision, safety, and attention to detail are non-negotiable here.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics and panel layout drawings to execute precise builds
• Build and populate panel back plates with accurate point-to-point wiring for machinery control panels
• Wire and connect field control devices for custom automated systems, including motors and transformers
• Test and debug electrical systems, including commissioning, installation, and troubleshooting of PLC-based systems
• Install and troubleshoot machinery both on-site and at customer locations globally
• Maintain 5S standards and ensure cleanliness throughout the production floor and automation cells
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the broader Electrical Assembly Team

Requirements / Skills

• Diploma or electrical certification with 4+ years of experience in electrical assembly for automated machinery
• 442A or 309A Electrician’s Licence (or equivalent experience) is required
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical standards, PLCs, sensors, motor drives, servomotors, and pneumatic controls
• Proficient in reading electrical engineering drawings and wiring components accurately
• Skilled with hand tools and electrical measuring tools; must supply personal tool set
• Able to safely operate machine shop equipment and work with high-voltage systems up to 600V
• Willing and able to travel globally up to 30–60% for equipment installation and commissioning; valid passport required
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in both written and spoken English
