Sr. Operations Manager – Amazon – Rocky View County, AB

Amazon Canada is looking for a Senior Operations Manager to lead fulfillment operations at YYC8, located in Rocky View County, Alberta. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving performance, developing people, and overseeing day-to-day operations across a major Amazon Fulfillment Centre. About the Role: Senior Operations Manager

As the Sr. Operations Manager at YYC8, you’ll be accountable for all aspects of your operational area — safety, quality, performance, and the customer experience. You’ll set clear expectations for Operations and Area Managers, measure their performance, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure departmental goals are met. A key part of this role is building leadership bench strength and cultivating a positive employee culture across the site.

You’ll also play a strategic role in driving continuous improvement — identifying and scaling best practices across departments and shifts, and partnering with support teams to secure the resources needed to execute key initiatives. The work environment is a large-scale warehouse facility, and the role requires the physical ability to move throughout the FC regularly.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position is $116,100 to $193,900 CAD annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

The Sr. Operations Manager at YYC8 carries significant accountability across people, process, and performance. From leading improvement initiatives to ensuring safety standards are upheld throughout the facility, this role demands both strategic thinking and hands-on leadership on the floor.

• Drive quality and process improvement by creating Lean initiatives and change management projects that help the Fulfillment Centre meet and exceed its business plan
• Own overall safety, quality, and performance for either inbound or outbound operations, ensuring a consistent and positive customer experience
• Set expectations and measure performance for Operations and Area Managers, providing clear feedback and holding the team accountable
• Coach and mentor managers by sourcing their ideas and incorporating them into improvement plans for the functional area
• Share best practices proactively across all departments, shifts, and across the broader fulfillment network
• Partner with support staff including HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, and IT to build resources and support for key projects and initiatives
• Perform physical tasks as required, including lifting totes up to 49 lbs, walking an average of 5 miles daily throughout the facility, and accessing all areas of the building

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is seeking a seasoned operations leader with a proven history of managing salaried workforces in high-volume environments. The ideal candidate brings both the analytical mindset to drive process improvement and the people skills to build high-performing teams.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required; a degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field along with an MBA is preferred
• 7+ years of direct management experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment, including managing a salaried workforce
• Full staffing lifecycle experience, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and terminations
• Performance metrics and process improvement expertise, including familiarity with Lean techniques
• Experience managing contingent workforces during peak seasons is an asset
• Ability to handle shifting priorities and make sound judgement calls in high-pressure situations
• Interest in long-term career development through multi-site assignments across the fulfillment network is considered an asset
