About the Role: Sr. Electrical Engineer, Automated Test Equipment

As a senior member of the team, you’ll lead the architecture of novel automated test systems, develop test specifications, and break down complex requirements into actionable execution plans. You’ll research and specify electrical test equipment — from power supplies and multimeters to oscilloscopes and power analyzers — and design schematics and layouts for industrial electrical control panels in compliance with NFPA79, NEC, and UL508A standards.

Beyond the technical build, you’ll play a mentorship role, reviewing junior engineers’ designs and guiding their implementation on subsystems. You’ll implement industrial safety systems compliant with OSHA and ISO standards to protect against high-voltage and mechanical hazards, debug and optimize test processes, and develop PLC sequences in Allen Bradley and Siemens environments. Responsibilities

This role sits at the intersection of electrical design, automation engineering, and technical leadership. You’ll be expected to own projects end-to-end — from first-principles architecture through to validation and production deployment — while contributing to a team that values both rigour and innovation.

  • Architect novel, fully automated testing machinery from first principles, balancing cost, lead time, complexity, and test coverage
  • Develop test specifications and break down requirements into detailed execution plans, mentoring junior engineers on subsystem implementation
  • Research and specify electrical test equipment including measurement devices, power supplies, sensors, and I/O hardware
  • Design schematics and layouts for industrial electrical control panels ensuring NFPA79, NEC, and UL508A compliance, while reviewing junior engineers’ work
  • Implement reliable industrial safety systems compliant with OSHA and ISO standards to safeguard against high-voltage and mechanical hazards
  • Debug and optimize automated test processes to minimize cycle time and maximize uptime

Requirements / Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in controls, mechatronics, test, or automation engineering in a hands-on capacity
  • Electrical test equipment specification skills, including power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power analyzers
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar, for building complex machine schematics
  • PLC programming experience, preferably in Rockwell Allen Bradley Studio 5000 and/or Siemens TIA Portal
  • Industrial/manufacturing automation exposure in a production environment
  • High voltage power electronics exposure (inverters, DC-DC converters, etc.)
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
