About the Role: Service Deli Clerk
The Service Deli Clerk is responsible for preparing, packaging, and labelling a wide variety of ready-to-eat meals, entrees, salads, and party trays. You’ll work with commercial ovens and rotisserie equipment to cook proteins, and use an automated wrapping machine to seal and label finished products. Stocking and rotating the display case is also part of the routine to ensure members always have access to fresh items.
Maintaining food safety and sanitation standards is a core part of this position. You’ll follow Costco’s established formulas and diagrams, monitor product quality and consistency, and complete required documentation including time and temperature records and sanitation checklists. Working safely and upholding health code compliance is expected at all times.

Responsibilities
The Service Deli Clerk plays a central role in keeping the deli department fully operational. From food preparation and cooking to packaging and maintaining a clean workspace, the day-to-day work requires both culinary skill and attention to detail. Here’s what you can expect to be doing regularly:
- Prepare and assemble meals, entrees, salads, party trays, and take-and-bake pizzas following Costco’s formulas and diagrams
- Slice vegetables for salads, entrees, and garnishes on prepared food items
- Cook and prepare rotisserie chickens, ribs, and entrees using commercial ovens and rotisserie equipment; coat ribs with barbecue sauce and mix ingredients by hand
- Package, wrap, weigh, seal, and label products using an automated wrapping machine; stock and rotate the display case
- Monitor finished products to ensure department consistency and quality standards are met; comply with health codes including sanitation, temperatures, and pull dates
- Restock and assemble large boxes of ingredients and supplies in the prep area
- Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment; clean and sanitize equipment using approved cleaning agents and the 3-compartment or power soak sink
- Clean the deli area by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and emptying drain screens and trash; operate the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
- Document production on daily forms; fill out time and temperature records; complete sanitation checklists after final cleanup
- Provide prompt and courteous member service at all times
- Assist in other areas of the department and warehouse as needed
Requirements / Skills
