About the Role
The Senior WHS Manager will collaborate with the operations team to implement Amazon’s WHS policies and ensure compliance with local, regional, and federal regulations. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce ergonomic and conditional risks, fostering a safe and healthful work environment for all associates. Additionally, you will analyze WHS metrics, assess incident trends, and strategically allocate resources to mitigate the highest risks.
In this role, you will be responsible for auditing WHS practices, training associates, and overseeing compliance efforts. You will also create leadership development plans for your team, ensuring the highest standards of safety are consistently upheld across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to ensure compliance with Amazon’s WHS policies.
- Lead initiatives to reduce ergonomic risks and improve safety processes.
- Partner with operations teams to establish a safe work environment.
- Analyze metrics to identify trends and allocate resources effectively.
- Audit WHS practices to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
- Mentor and develop WHS professionals, providing clear expectations and feedback.
Basic Qualifications
Amazon requires the following basic qualifications for the Senior WHS Manager role:
- Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
- 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- 5+ years of experience in people and performance management.
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements in operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Amazon prefers candidates who also possess the following qualifications:
- Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people.
- Master’s degree and Certified Safety Professional credentials.
- Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
