About the Role: Senior Solutions Architect
As a Senior Solutions Architect at AWS Canada, your core focus will be acting as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise customers. You’ll design secure, scalable cloud architectures, build proof-of-concept prototypes, and lead technical discussions that help customers make confident decisions about their technology roadmap. Whether you’re running a whiteboarding session, presenting at a customer event, or diving into an AI/ML architecture review, this role demands both depth and breadth of technical knowledge.
Beyond customer-facing work, you’ll also contribute meaningfully to the growth of the Solutions Architecture team — sharing product feedback with AWS engineering, participating in recruiting, and mentoring fellow architects. Benefits and Salary
This position offers a base salary range of $146,000 to $211,600 CAD annually for the Montreal location, along with the potential for sign-on bonuses and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) as part of Amazon’s total compensation approach. AWS Canada also provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and LTD), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities
The day-to-day work of a Senior Solutions Architect at AWS blends hands-on technical design with strategic customer engagement. From architecture reviews and whiteboarding sessions to prototype development and event presentations, each responsibility is centred on helping enterprise clients move forward with confidence on AWS cloud.
- Design scalable, secure cloud architectures supporting migration, modernization, and cloud-native and AI-driven solutions
- Advise customers as a trusted technical partner, identifying both opportunities and risks in their technical decisions while anticipating evolving needs
- Translate customer business requirements into concrete technical solutions, communicating complex concepts clearly to both technical and business audiences
- Develop and deliver technical content including workshops, prototypes, and presentations, and speak at events to accelerate customer adoption
- Lead technical discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and proof-of-concept activities that guide customer decision-making and drive innovation
- Contribute to team growth by providing product feedback to AWS engineering teams, supporting recruiting efforts, and mentoring teammates
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in cloud architecture and a genuine passion for solving complex technical challenges for enterprise clients. AWS values professionals who can bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution — and who are equally comfortable in front of a developer audience or a boardroom.
- 3–5 years of experience in solutions architecture, technical advisory, or a customer-facing technical role
- Cloud architecture expertise including experience designing Well-Architected solutions in distributed systems
- Technical depth in cloud architecture, data, AI/ML, and software development
- Customer-facing experience translating business requirements into technical solutions for enterprise stakeholders
- Fluency in both French and English is required due to the bilingual nature of the role and interaction with global Amazon teams and stakeholders across Canada
- Familiarity with modern architectures such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; AI/ML solution design including Generative AI; scripting in Python, JavaScript, or similar; and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
