Senior Brokerage Representative – UPS – Lachine, QC

UPS is seeking a Senior Brokerage Representative to join their team in a fully remote, full-time permanent role tied to operational hubs in Lachine, Quebec and Mississauga, Ontario. About the Role: Senior Brokerage Representative

This position centres on auditing CAD customs brokerage files in accordance with CBSA D1-4-1 requirements, ensuring full compliance with Canadian import/export regulations, including CARM, SIMA, and surtax requirements. You’ll be responsible for both targeted and random audits of customer accounts, validating everything from permits and licences to tariff classifications using GROI and Explanatory Notes.

Beyond the audit work, you’ll maintain classification databases in Excel and Access, perform country-of-origin verification with suppliers, and serve as a compliance resource for customers. Strong bilingual communication skills in French and English are essential, as the role includes regular interactions with clients outside of Quebec.

UPS offers a competitive hourly rate for this role: $20.48/hour in Quebec and $21.42/hour in Ontario. The full-time schedule runs 40 hours per week with overtime eligibility. Responsibilities

Day to day, you’ll be the compliance backbone of UPS’s brokerage operations — auditing files, validating documentation, and making sure every import and export transaction meets Canadian regulatory standards. These responsibilities require a sharp eye for detail and solid knowledge of customs legislation.

• Audit daily brokerage files in accordance with CBSA D1-4-1 requirements
• Verify permits, licences, certificates, and all required import documentation
• Validate tariff classifications using GROI and Explanatory Notes
• Conduct country-of-origin verification with suppliers
• Maintain classification databases in Excel and Access
• Enter classifications accurately into internal systems
• Communicate compliance requirements clearly to customers, including those outside of Quebec

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Canadian customs brokerage and a strong regulatory foundation. UPS is looking for someone who is detail-oriented, analytically minded, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting while managing multiple priorities.

• Minimum 5 years of customs brokerage experience — this is a senior-level role requiring proven hands-on expertise
• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation is required
• Strong knowledge of CBSA and U.S. customs regulations
• Advanced Excel skills for managing and maintaining classification databases
• Bilingualism in French and English (written and spoken) — advanced French is essential; approximately 20% of client interactions are outside Quebec
• Analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills to handle daily audit volumes effectively
• Preferred: International trade or logistics experience, classification and FTA experience, or a bachelor’s degree / equivalent
