Responsibilities

As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post, your day revolves around efficient and safe delivery throughout your assigned route. • Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe, accurate, and timely manner across assigned routes
• Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles in your area
• Secure all mail in your possession throughout the delivery process to prevent loss or damage
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification visibly at all times while delivering and collecting mail from customers
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg as part of daily duties
• Operate a motor vehicle safely in all types of weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be required if selected
• Access to a suitable personal vehicle with a minimum cargo capacity of 100 cu ft (2,832 litres), metal roof-top, accessory power outlet, and ideally a fifth door/hatchback for oversized items
• Automobile liability insurance and willingness to notify your insurer of vehicle use for Canada Post deliveries
• Experience making deliveries and operating a vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
• Residency within 75 km of the Slave Lake Post Office is preferred
