As an on-call relief carrier, you’ll be out on the road sorting, collecting, and delivering mail across rural and suburban routes. About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for sorting and delivering mail items safely and on time across various communities in and around Port Stanley. You’ll need to build solid knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles, while handling a range of Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB).

This role requires operating your own vehicle in all kinds of Canadian weather and traffic conditions. You’ll wear your Canada Post identification visibly while on delivery, ensure mail is securely in your possession at all times, and be prepared to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg). Safety and attention to detail are essential throughout every shift.

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items safely and on time to rural and suburban addresses
• Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Secure mail in your possession at all times during collection and delivery
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification visibly while delivering and collecting mail from customers
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) as required
• Operate a motor vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate is someone who takes safety seriously, can work independently, and is comfortable behind the wheel in all kinds of Canadian conditions. You’ll need a reliable vehicle that meets Canada Post’s mandatory cargo specifications, as well as a clean driving record.

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a driver’s abstract will be required
• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
• Vehicle meeting mandatory requirements: minimum 50 cu ft (1,415 L) cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, appropriate window sill height (38″–45″), and fifth door/hatchback (preferred)
• Automobile liability insurance for use of your personal vehicle, with notification to your insurer regarding its use with Canada Post
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg)
• English language proficiency — English Essential
• Preference given to applicants residing within 75 km of the Port Stanley Post Office
