About the Role: Platform Solutions Architect III, Retail

As a Platform Solutions Architect, you’ll partner closely with technical sales teams to position Google Cloud’s portfolio of services to retail and e-commerce customers. Your day-to-day work spans technical-led conversations, architecting cross-pillar cloud solutions, running proofs-of-concept and demos, and leading workshops designed to unlock new workloads. You’ll translate merchant business needs into scalable, robust technical architectures — and drive the technical win from first engagement through to delivery planning.

Responsibilities

This role is fast-paced and high-impact, requiring you to balance technical depth with strategic thinking. You’ll be the bridge between merchant business needs and Google Cloud’s engineering capabilities, driving technical wins while enabling long-term customer success in the retail and e-commerce ecosystem.

  • Develop and own the technical account plan and strategy, participating in planning sessions and supporting targeted sales motions for retail environments
  • Combine expertise in sales, programming, and solutions architecture to prove the value of Google Cloud Platform through demos, pilots, and in-depth workshops focused on high-traffic retail scalability
  • Architect cross-pillar solutions that meet the demands of global e-commerce, drive technical wins, and define initial delivery plans for customers
  • Lead technical engagement throughout the solution phase, ensuring continuity from pre-sales through to implementation handoff
  • Translate merchant business needs into robust, scalable technical architectures by demonstrating high client empathy
  • Facilitate post-sales transitions by supporting pricing activities and handing off the final delivery plan to implementation teams

Requirements / Skills

This is a senior role suited to a candidate who brings both technical credibility and the ability to influence business decisions at the executive level. Google Cloud values people who can operate comfortably across infrastructure, application modernization, data analytics, and cloud AI — particularly within the retail and e-commerce space.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
  • 10 years of experience with cloud-native architecture in a customer-facing or technical support role
  • Stakeholder engagement experience presenting to or working with technical stakeholders and executive leaders
  • Programming and systems design experience including debugging, prototyping, demos, or customer-facing workshops
  • Cloud and virtualization knowledge including on-premise development, containerization platforms, or cloud development environments
  • Retail or e-commerce experience selling technical solutions in areas such as infrastructure modernization, data analytics, cloud AI, or security is preferred
  • Security concepts familiarity including encryption, identity management, access control, and penetration testing is an asset
  • Understanding of the Canadian tech ecosystem and the ability to drive impact within a high-growth industry context is preferred
