Responsibilities

Working in a pharmacy environment means precision and accountability are part of the job every single day. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you’ll support pharmacists in keeping operations running safely and efficiently, directly impacting the quality of care patients receive.

  • Receive prescriptions from patients while following provincial legal and regulatory conditions, verifying completeness of information including name, DOB, allergies, and third-party details
  • Perform computer functions including data entry, price checks, patient information entry and updates, and competent interpretation of written prescriptions with Latin abbreviations and dosage calculations
  • Fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, selecting appropriate products, conducting 7-point, Visual, and DIN accuracy checks, labelling and organizing for pharmacist review
  • Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, pulling expired medications, processing drug and supply orders, operating the Telxon gun, and managing interchangeable drug selections
  • Perform general housekeeping in the dispensary including stocking filling supplies, keeping the workspace clean and organized, and maintaining dispensing and packaging equipment
  • Handle clerical tasks such as filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, and completing assigned administrative support functions including accounts receivable
  • Support OTC operations with ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as directed by the OTC Manager or Pharmacist
