Consumables Associate – Walmart – Thunder Bay, Ontario

Walmart Canada’s Thunder Bay Supercenter is hiring a Consumables Associate to join their in-store team at 777 Memorial Ave. This is a hands-on retail role for someone who enjoys working with customers, keeping shelves stocked, and contributing to a fast-moving team environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll be moving between the backroom and the salesfloor — processing incoming merchandise, maintaining product displays, and making sure customers can find what they’re looking for. It’s a role that keeps you active and engaged, with plenty of variety throughout your shift.

About the Role: Consumables Associate

As a Consumables Associate, you’ll play a key part in the high-volume flow of merchandise from backroom to salesfloor. You’ll stock and rotate products, set up displays, and ensure pricing and signage are accurate — all while delivering friendly, helpful customer service. The position involves working in a safe and clean environment in accordance with Walmart’s policies and procedures.

You’ll also handle claims and returns, identify high-shrink items, and refer service or transactional needs to the appropriate manager when required. Teamwork is central to this role — you’ll be collaborating with fellow associates to keep the department running smoothly and to help Canadians save money and live better.

Benefits and Salary

This position starts at a minimum rate of $17.75 per hour. Responsibilities

Working as a Consumables Associate at Walmart means you’re responsible for both the customer experience and the operational flow of your department. From greeting shoppers to maintaining a well-stocked and organized salesfloor, your contributions directly impact how customers feel about their visit.

• Greet all customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Assist customers by promoting products and services, locating merchandise, and helping with purchase decisions
• Resolve customer issues and refer concerns to management where appropriate
• Maintain salesfloor presentation by stocking and rotating merchandise, removing damaged or out-of-date goods, and setting up product displays with proper signage and pricing
• Handle claims and returns properly, secure merchandise, and identify high-shrink items in line with company policy
• Receive and stock merchandise using equipment appropriately, and complete required paperwork and documentation
• Stock and downstock merchandise as applicable, apply product protection when required, and set and complete modulars including flex modulars and new shelf caps
• Refer appropriate service and transactional items to a Customer Service Manager as required
