Package Handler Import – UPS – Lachine, QC
Location: Montreal, QC | Company: UPS
UPS is hiring a Package Handler – Import at their Lachine, Quebec facility. If you’re looking for a physical, hands-on role with a globally recognized logistics company and a clear wage progression path, this could be a solid fit. The shift schedule is flexible — Monday to Thursday from 15:00 to 18:30, and Friday from 17:00 to 22:00 — making it a manageable option for those seeking part-time or supplemental income.
Day-to-day, you’ll be working in a fast-paced warehouse environment, handling inbound packages, operating equipment, and keeping shipments moving efficiently. UPS is known for promoting from within, and entry-level positions like this one are often a starting point for longer-term careers in logistics and supply chain operations.
About the Role: Package Handler – Import
As a Package Handler on the import team, your core responsibility is keeping packages moving through the facility accurately and safely. You’ll be loading and unloading trailers and package cars, scanning and sorting shipments, and stocking packages in the appropriate areas. Heavy machinery may be used to assist with certain tasks, so attention to safety protocols is important.
This role requires good physical stamina — you’ll be lifting packages up to 70 lbs (32 kg) — as well as the ability to memorize postal codes and follow UPS’s established package handling methods. The work is roughly 3 hours per day, though availability across flexible shift hours is required. Communication on-site is primarily in French (approximately 90%), with some English (10%), so a basic level of French is expected.
Benefits and Salary
This position offers a starting hourly rate of $18.50/h, with a maximum rate of $25.81/h reached through a probation and 48-month wage progression. UPS also offers tuition reimbursement of up to $3,000, making this a great option for students or those looking to continue their education while working. Note that conditions may apply and the hourly bonus is subject to change at UPS Canada’s discretion.
