Optician / Contact Lens Practitioner (Licensed) – Costco – Brampton, ON
Location: Brampton, ON | Company: Costco Wholesale
Costco’s optical department in Brampton, Ontario is looking for a Licensed Optician / Contact Lens Practitioner to join their team at the 100 Biscayne Crescent location. If you hold a valid Provincial Dispensing Optician licence and a Contact Lens Fitter certification, this is a role where your clinical skills and member-focused approach will be put to excellent use every day.
This position sits at the intersection of eye care and retail service — you’ll be helping members choose the right eyewear, fitting and dispensing contact lenses, performing corneal assessments, and guiding apprentices through their certification journey. It’s a hands-on, technically demanding role that requires both precision and genuine care for the people you’re serving.
About the Role: Optician / Contact Lens Practitioner
As a Licensed Optician at Costco Brampton, you’ll assist members in selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, contact lenses, and sunglasses that suit their prescriptions. You’ll use a slit lamp to examine members’ eyes, assess ocular health, and assist in the fitting of contact lenses, while also taking accurate pupillary distance measurements and determining placements for multifocal and bifocal lenses. Your day will also involve processing orders through the computer system, handling payments, and placing special orders with outside vendors.
Beyond direct member care, you’ll play a key role in maintaining department standards — from stocking optical merchandise and managing contact lens trial inventory, to ensuring the department meets health care cleanliness standards. You’ll also oversee apprentices and students as needed, and you’re expected to keep your provincial licensing in good standing at all times.
Benefits and Salary
This position offers a pay rate of $33.00 per hour. Costco is widely recognised across Canada for offering competitive compensation packages to its employees, and optical staff are no exception. Working within a high-traffic warehouse retail environment means consistent hours and access to Costco’s broader employee benefits structure.
