About the Role: Maintenance Assistant
As a Maintenance Assistant at the Costco Optical Lab in Brampton, your primary focus is ensuring all areas of the facility meet company cleanliness and safety standards. You’ll clean offices, break rooms, restrooms, and the production floor, operate trash and cardboard compactors, maintain light fixtures, wash windows, and periodically vacuum rafters. You’ll also monitor and restock cleaning supplies, assist with painting, perform concrete floor repairs, and conduct roof checks as part of grounds duties.
Beyond cleaning, this position involves inventory management, internal and external purchasing, and operating the facility’s maintenance management system (Interal). You’ll be expected to follow all Optical Lab safety and security procedures and provide courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers at all times.

Responsibilities
The Maintenance Assistant role covers a wide range of daily tasks that keep the Costco Optical Lab facility safe, clean, and operational. You’ll follow a scheduled routine while staying ready to respond to unplanned needs like spills or equipment issues. - Clean floors throughout offices, break rooms, restrooms, and the production floor; change scrubber water frequently to minimize dust
- Empty trash from designated areas and operate trash and cardboard compactors
- Respond quickly to spills to maintain a safe working environment
- Maintain light fixtures by cleaning them regularly and replacing bulbs; wash windows, upper walls, and ceilings; vacuum rafters periodically
- Assist with grounds maintenance including leaf blowing, litter pickup, roof checks, snow and ice removal, painting, and concrete floor repairs
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies; receive and place merchandise in the appropriate department
- Operate the Interal maintenance system and manage store inventory
- Perform internal and external purchases as required
- Follow all safety and security procedures specific to the Optical Lab and provide prompt, courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers
Requirements / Skills
