About the Role: Food Service Assistant – Food Court

As a Food Service Assistant, you’ll be responsible for preparing and selling food and beverages to Costco members. Duties span the full food court operation — from food preparation and baking to cash handling and cleaning. You’ll roll, shape, and top pizzas, operate deep fryers, steam hot dogs, and serve a variety of dessert and drink items. You’ll also pull and stock ingredients from the warehouse, ensure coolers and freezers are properly stocked, and stage supplies for the prep area.

Maintaining a clean, sanitary work environment is a key part of this position. You’ll follow health codes including proper sanitation practices, temperature monitoring, product rotation, and expiry date compliance. Food Safety Certification – Level 1 is required from your first day on the job. You’ll also follow all safety and security procedures and provide prompt, courteous service to every member you encounter.

Responsibilities

Day to day, the Food Service Assistant keeps the food court operating at full capacity. From the kitchen to the dining area, your contributions directly affect the member experience and the overall cleanliness and safety of the department.

  • Prepare hot food including rolling, shaping, topping, and baking pizzas; slicing and placing in warmers; steaming hot dogs and buns; and operating deep fryers
  • Handle cash transactions by ringing up sales, collecting payment, making change, and processing pizza orders placed at the counter and by phone
  • Assemble and present orders to customers, using tongs for hot food items and following all department cash handling and production procedures
  • Dispense dessert and drink items such as frozen yogurt, lattes, and smoothies; clean, sanitize, service, and refill dispensing machines
  • Maintain the dining area by bussing and sanitizing tables, sweeping and mopping floors, and emptying trash
  • Clean and sanitize machines, work surfaces, floors, pans, utensils, and counters; transport garbage to the trash compactor and operate it safely
  • Pull and stock supplies from the warehouse including large-volume ingredients to shelves, coolers, and freezers; stage ingredients in the prep area
  • Comply with health codes including sanitation standards, temperature checks, product rotation, and expiration date monitoring

Requirements / Skills
