Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of an Optical Student at Costco Brampton is varied and member-focused. From helping people choose the right frames to maintaining a clean and organized department, each responsibility contributes to a positive member experience and a well-run optical operation.

  • Assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lens options with prompt, courteous service
  • Process orders and over-the-counter merchandise; handle cash, cheques, credit, and debit payments accurately
  • Fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and manual bending, under the supervision of a licensed Optician where permitted by provincial law
  • Order equipment, merchandise, and supplies by entering data into the computer system
  • Stock merchandise and supplies following department procedures for production, record keeping, merchandising, and product storage
  • Clean the department through spraying, wiping, and mopping; empty trash and operate the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
  • Follow safety and security procedures at all times
  • Assist in other areas of the warehouse as required

Requirements / Skills

This role is designed for students currently enrolled in an optical program at an applicable college. The right candidate is someone who is service-minded, reliable, and eager to apply their studies in a real retail environment. A current provincial licence is required to be considered.

  • Current Provincial Licence required along with registration in an applicable college program
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
