About the Role: Operations Supervisor PUD Sort
This is a hands-on supervisory role within DHL’s Hamilton facility, overseeing the sortation of packages to assigned delivery routes. You’ll be responsible for managing operations within prescribed standards of cost, efficiency, accuracy, and on-time distribution. You’ll also implement new procedures to improve operational effectiveness and provide performance reports for management on a regular basis.
Beyond logistics coordination, you’ll be deeply involved in people management — recruiting, coaching, scheduling, and developing your team. Maintaining a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement is a core part of the role, as is ensuring the warehouse is organized, equipment is maintained, and supplies are always on hand.

Responsibilities
The Operations Supervisor PUD Sort role covers a wide scope of daily responsibilities spanning team leadership, operational coordination, safety compliance, and customer service. You’ll be the key driver behind keeping the sort operation running smoothly and your team performing at their best.
- Recruit, orient, train, and schedule all operations staff, including managing performance and recommending disciplinary actions when appropriate
- Establish and implement productivity, quality, and cost measurement strategies to achieve desired operational results
- Coach and develop your team through ongoing feedback, recognition, and monitoring progress against goals and targets
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of inbound and outgoing freight daily, in accordance with established standards and procedures
- Complete accurate reports for management including staff schedules, attendance records, payroll documentation, dangerous goods incidents, and WSB reports
- Maintain and apply scanning technology systems, ensuring successful implementation and continued use across operations
- Communicate corporate strategy and recognize individual and team contributions to motivate and engage staff
- Ensure sufficient staff resources, materials, and supplies are on hand at all times and that the warehouse is organized and prepared for the next shift
- Maintain equipment in safe, efficient operating condition and uphold a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement
- Address customer complaints and escalated items professionally and promptly, following up on customer service solutions as directed by the Sales resource team
Requirements / Skills
DHL is looking for a high-potential leader with a solid foundation in warehouse or logistics operations and a genuine passion for developing people. The ideal candidate brings a balance of operational know-how, interpersonal confidence, and sound judgment — especially under pressure.
- Warehouse sortation experience is required; experience managing Pick-up and Delivery (PUD) operations is a strong asset
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience, preferably in a warehouse or logistics environment
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods / WHMIS special handling procedures and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with Collective Agreements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Lean / process improvement experience is considered an asset
- College or University designation in a relevant field
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing circumstances
- Demonstrated time management, organizational skills, initiative, and flexibility to ensure tasks are completed on time
