Operations Supervisor Gateway – DHL – Mount Hope, ON

This is a hands-on supervisory position that covers the full cycle of export, clearance, and transit operations. You’ll be responsible for everything from managing shift staff to ensuring aircraft loading and dispatch comply with all regulatory requirements — all while keeping operations running on time and on standard.

About the Role: Operations Supervisor – Gateway

The Operations Supervisor provides proactive, floor-level leadership over employees engaged in the daily movement of packages and freight. You’ll implement procedures to improve operational effectiveness, produce performance reports for management, and ensure the timely, safe loading and dispatch of DHL aircraft. This is a role where your decisions directly affect service quality and customer satisfaction across the entire supply chain.

You’ll also be accountable for regulatory compliance across ground and air transportation, including Canada Customs requirements, Dangerous Goods handling, and adherence to the Collective Agreement and Occupational Health & Safety Act. Responsibilities

As the Gateway Operations Supervisor, your day-to-day work spans people management, compliance, and operational execution. You’ll be the key link between frontline staff and senior management, ensuring that every shipment moves safely and on schedule while your team is supported, informed, and held to a high standard of performance.

• Recruit and manage operations staff, including orientation, training, scheduling, and performance management
• Establish and implement productivity, quality, and cost measurement strategies to achieve operational targets
• Oversee daily distribution of inbound and outgoing freight, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in line with established standards
• Ensure regulatory compliance related to ground and air transportation, including safe loading and dispatch of DHL aircraft
• Manage load planning and the security of all equipment and vehicles used during operations
• Complete accurate reports for management including staff schedules, attendance records, dangerous goods incidents, WSIB reports, and load quality logs
• Maintain a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement
• Implement scanning technology and ensure its continued, effective application across the operation
• Address customer complaints and escalated service issues promptly and professionally
• Ensure warehouse readiness — organized, stocked with materials, and properly set up for the next shift at all times

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings both supervisory experience in logistics or courier operations and a working knowledge of the regulatory landscape governing air and ground freight in Canada. DHL values candidates who are self-motivated, organized under pressure, and able to lead with clear, open communication.

• Canada Customs experience — direct exposure to customs processes in an operational setting
• 3+ years of warehouse or on-road operations experience in a courier or similar industry
• Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations and demonstrated compliance in a transportation environment
• Experience managing operations that involve ground or air transportation regulatory requirements
• Prior experience with lean or process improvement initiatives is a strong asset
• Working knowledge of Collective Agreements and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
• College or University designation in a relevant field
• Availability for flexible shift timings — this role operates across varying schedules
