About the Role: Operations Supervisor
As an Operations Supervisor at DHL Express, you’ll provide proactive, floor-level management of operations staff engaged in the loading, unloading, sorting, and dispatch of shipments. You’ll implement procedures to improve operational effectiveness, prepare performance reports for management, and ensure the safe and timely dispatch of DHL aircraft in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be at the centre of day-to-day warehouse and courier operations, overseeing everything from staff scheduling to shipment accuracy and equipment safety. Your leadership directly impacts DHL’s ability to meet its commitments to customers and regulatory bodies.
- Recruit, orient, and train operations staff while managing schedules, performance, and disciplinary recommendations
- Establish and implement productivity, quality, and cost measurement strategies to achieve operational targets
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of inbound and outgoing freight in accordance with established standards
- Supervise unloading of shipments from trucks, containers, and aircraft while preventing damage and maintaining sorting accuracy
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a proactive safety program compliant with legislative requirements and the collective agreement
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies governing ground transportation, load planning, and equipment security
- Complete accurate reports for management including staff schedules, attendance records, dangerous goods incidents, and WSIB documentation
- Implement and maintain scanning technology and ensure the warehouse is organized and set up for the next shift
- Address customer complaints and escalated items professionally and in a timely manner
- Assist the Gateway Manager and perform other duties as required
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in courier or warehouse operations, a solid understanding of Canadian regulatory requirements, and the leadership ability to keep a diverse team motivated and accountable. - Canada Customs experience is required, along with knowledge of ground transportation regulations
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse or on-road operations experience in the courier industry
- Dangerous Goods knowledge and demonstrated compliance with applicable regulations
- Prior experience with lean or process improvement initiatives is an asset
- Working knowledge of Collective Agreements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- College or University designation is required
- Excellent communication skills — both written and oral — along with strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities
- Overnight availability and flexibility to ensure task completion
