Meat Associate Part Time – Walmart – Thunder Bay, ON
Thunder Bay’s Walmart is looking for a Part Time Meat Associate to join their in-store team. If you enjoy working in a hands-on environment where customer service and food safety go hand in hand, this could be the right fit for you. You’ll play an important role in keeping the meat and deli department running smoothly for the customers who count on Walmart every day.
Day to day, you’ll be managing product rotation, preparing deli items, operating equipment like slicers and rotisserie ovens, and making sure everything on the floor is properly priced and presented. It’s a role that blends food handling expertise with genuine customer interaction in a busy retail setting.
About the Role: Meat Associate
As a Meat Associate at Walmart Canada, you’re responsible for maintaining the meat and deli section to the highest standards. This means zoning the department, checking for expired products, rotating stock, and ensuring all merchandise is correctly signed and priced. You’ll also be preparing deli items — slicing meats and cheeses, setting up the rotisserie chicken, operating the deep fryer, and assembling prepared salads and side dishes for the display case or custom orders.
Adherence to food safety standards is a core part of this role. You’ll follow strict protocols around cold chain compliance, thermometer calibration, temperature recording, proper product rotation, and sell-by and expiration date management. Working within Walmart’s Health and Safety guidelines is non-negotiable and central to how the team operates.
Benefits and Salary
The minimum rate of pay for this position starts at $18.05 per hour. Walmart Canada also offers a range of associate benefits including a store discount, deferred profit sharing, access to Live Better U (education support), EQ Health resources, and stock options.
