About the Role: Meat Assistant
As a Meat Assistant at Costco Laval, your primary focus is preparing, wrapping, labelling, and stocking meat products for members. Responsibilities
Working in Costco’s meat department means keeping the display case stocked, maintaining equipment, and upholding strict food safety standards every single shift. These responsibilities require a consistent, detail-focused approach to ensure members always receive quality products.
- Inspect and reassemble equipment sanitized the previous night, and rework the display case with proper product rotation
- Operate the automatic wrapping machine by loading large trays of styro-packaged meat from wheeled racks
- Set and apply labels according to product type and price using the labeller
- Stock display cases by reaching through sliding windows or moving racks to the floor
- Operate the meat grinder, dump meat into the machine, and check fat content of each batch for quality and consistency
- Clean and sanitize the work area throughout the day in compliance with health codes and temperature standards
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Provide prompt and courteous service to Costco members as needed
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse when required
Requirements / Skills
Costco is looking for candidates who are reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a physically demanding food production environment. Previous experience with meat wrapping will give applicants a strong advantage in the selection process.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Food Safety Certification – Level 1 required on the first day in the position
