About the Role: Cashier Assistant

As a Cashier Assistant at Costco Laval, your main focus is supporting the checkout process from start to finish. Responsibilities

The Cashier Assistant role is active and varied, requiring you to move quickly between tasks to support the checkout team and ensure members leave with a positive experience. From packing orders to clearing the parking lot, your work keeps the entire front-end operation running efficiently.

  • Greet and assist members at the checkout, help load items onto the conveyor belt, and determine packing preferences
  • Pack member orders into boxes and load them onto a separate cart or flatbed for easy transport
  • Check packaging for any signs of tampering and follow all safety and security procedures at all times
  • Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving
  • Transfer items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashiers scan them
  • Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front end, addressing spills and trip hazards immediately
  • Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking lot using a rope with a clasping hook, pushing no more than 8 carts at a time
  • Operate the mechanical trash compactor and cardboard bailer as part of daily duties
  • Support cashiers during special promotions and assist with set-up and closing duties for the department

Requirements / Skills
