About the Role: Cashier Assistant

As a Cashier Assistant at Costco Laval, your main focus is supporting the checkout process from start to finish. You’ll greet members, help them load items onto the conveyor belt, pack their orders into boxes, and load everything onto a cart or flatbed — all while checking packaging and following safety and security procedures.

This role also involves keeping the warehouse front end running smoothly by retrieving carts from the parking lot, cleaning spills and trip hazards immediately, operating the mechanical trash compactor and cardboard bailer, and assisting with department set-up and closing duties. You’ll work closely with cashiers during promotions and step in to help other areas of the warehouse as needed. Responsibilities

• Greet and assist members at the checkout, help load items onto the conveyor belt, and determine packing preferences
• Pack member orders into boxes and load them onto a separate cart or flatbed for easy transport
• Check packaging for any signs of tampering and follow all safety and security procedures at all times
• Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving
• Transfer items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashiers scan them
• Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front end, addressing spills and trip hazards immediately
• Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking lot using a rope with a clasping hook, pushing no more than 8 carts at a time
• Operate the mechanical trash compactor and cardboard bailer as part of daily duties
• Support cashiers during special promotions and assist with set-up and closing duties for the department

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who are reliable, member-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment. You don’t need prior experience — what matters most is your attitude, work ethic, and ability to communicate effectively with both team members and Costco members.

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred, though not strictly required
• Bilingual communication in French and English (oral and written) is required for this Quebec location
• Strong member service skills — ability to answer questions, share promotion information, and ensure a positive experience
• Physical stamina to handle an active role involving lifting, pushing carts, and moving throughout the warehouse
• Attention to safety — ability to follow all security and safety protocols consistently
