About the Role: Material Handler
As a Material Handler, your primary responsibility is operating powered forklift equipment to move, locate, stack, and count product throughout the warehouse. You’ll handle both inbound and outbound shipments, verifying product accuracy, checking for damage, and making sure everything matches customer requirements before it moves along the chain.
This role demands attention to detail and a commitment to keeping the facility running cleanly and safely. You’ll conduct daily equipment inspections, maintain a clean and orderly workspace, and support physical inventory counts as needed. Responsibilities
The day-to-day work of a Material Handler at DHL involves operating forklift equipment, managing product flow, and maintaining accuracy at every step of the receiving and shipping process. These responsibilities are essential to keeping DHL’s supply chain running on time and to customer specifications.
- Operate powered forklift equipment to move, relocate, stack, and count product throughout the warehouse
- Load and unload product onto equipment, pallets, or totes for more than 20% of each shift
- Pick and put away product for shipment or stock, ensuring the correct quantity and type per customer order
- Verify outbound shipments by comparing quantity, quality, labelling, and delivery address against customer orders
- Inspect inbound and outbound product for damage, infestation, and correct code dates
- Report discrepancies such as non-available products and OS&D (overage, shortage, and damage)
- Maintain equipment by changing batteries or LP tanks and monitoring power sources as needed
- Complete daily inspections of all operated equipment and keep the facility clean and orderly
- Assist with physical inventories as required
