Responsibilities
As Manager, Customs Regulatory Trade & Compliance, your day-to-day work will span team leadership, regulatory research, compliance auditing, and strategic clearance planning. These responsibilities are critical to ensuring FedEx Canada remains operationally compliant and competitive in international trade.
- Plan and direct a team of customs professionals to ensure policies and procedures are updated in response to import/export regulatory changes in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Ensure compliance through ongoing research, audits, and operational feedback across regulatory and procedural domains
- Develop clearance solutions at the divisional and global level for strategically selected industries, markets, or specific customer requirements
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on FedEx operations, systems, policies, and procedures
- Interface with Federal Government and regulatory agencies as required to support compliance objectives
- Travel as needed to support team operations, audits, or stakeholder engagements
Requirements / Skills
This role calls for a candidate with substantial hands-on experience in international logistics or customs brokerage, combined with strong leadership capabilities. FedEx values professionals who hold recognised industry credentials and demonstrate a thorough command of Canadian Customs legislation.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- 6 years of experience in Global Trade Services, including progressive experience in International Logistics or Customs Brokerage with a minimum of 2 years in a management role
- Qualifications from Revenue Canada, Customs & Excise or CSCB Qualification status required; successful completion of the US Customs qualification is also required
- 2 additional years of Global Trade Services experience (preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian Customs and Customs Legislation is mandatory
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of FedEx operations, systems, policies and procedures
- Must currently be a member of FedEx management or EXCEL/LEAP endorsed
- Previous background interfacing with Federal Government and Regulatory agencies is preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel on occasion as required by the role
