About the Role: Courier Driver

As a Courier Driver at UPS Courtenay, your shift runs from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday (schedules may vary based on operational requirements). You’ll be based out of the facility at 734 29th Street, Courtenay, BC, loading up and heading out to complete your daily delivery route using UPS’s DIAD navigation system to manage addresses and postal codes efficiently.

This is a physically demanding position that requires lifting, sorting, and moving parcels ranging from 10 to 70 lbs. You’ll also be responsible for conducting pre-trip vehicle safety checks and loading or unloading packages throughout the day. Working in various weather conditions is part of the job, so comfort with the outdoors is essential.

Responsibilities

As a UPS Courier Driver, your core responsibilities centre on safe, timely package delivery to customers across the Comox area. • Conduct pre-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle to confirm it meets safety standards before heading out on deliveries
• Deliver and pick up packages to and from business and residential addresses throughout your assigned route
• Load and unload parcels during drop-offs and pick-ups, handling packages weighing between 10 and 70 lbs
• Operate the DIAD system to navigate addresses and postal codes efficiently throughout your shift
• Sort and move packages at the facility as needed before and after your route

Requirements / Skills

UPS is looking for dependable, physically capable individuals who are comfortable working outdoors and representing the company in front of customers each day. Strong verbal communication skills and a solid comfort level with fast-paced, varied working conditions are key to success in this role. All candidates must complete interviews, background checks, and reference checks as part of the hiring process.

• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence — required; no exceptions
• Clean driving record — a non-negotiable requirement for operating UPS vehicles
• Ability to lift parcels up to 70 lbs (32 kg) unassisted — this is a physically demanding, active role
• Availability Monday to Friday to meet standard shift scheduling requirements
• Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues
• Customer service and/or driving experience considered an asset
• Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the year
