Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be contributing to some of the most technically demanding AI challenges in the industry. Your responsibilities span the full software development lifecycle, from writing production-grade code to collaborating on research that shapes how AI is applied at scale. - Write and test product or system development code to high standards of accuracy, testability, and efficiency
- Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews, ensuring best practices across available technologies including style guidelines and code quality
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content, adapting materials based on product and programme updates and user feedback
- Triage and resolve product or system issues by analyzing root causes and assessing impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality
- Design and implement GenAI solutions, leveraging ML infrastructure and evaluating tradeoffs between different techniques and their application domains
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a senior-level engineer who combines deep programming expertise with hands-on experience in machine learning infrastructure and generative AI. The ideal candidate brings technical leadership ability alongside the collaborative instincts needed to work effectively across research and product teams. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, eager to push boundaries, and capable of delivering at Google’s scale.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
- 5 years of experience programming in Python or C++
- 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure, including model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, and debugging
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
- 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
- 1 year of experience with state-of-the-art GenAI techniques such as LLMs, Multi-Modal, or Large Vision Models, or with GenAI-related concepts including language modeling and computer vision
- Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Preferred: 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role
- Preferred: Experience developing accessible technologies
