About the Role: Mail Service Courier
As a Mail Service Courier at Canada Post, your day revolves around the safe and efficient collection, sorting, and delivery of mail. You’ll load and unload postal vehicles, shuttle corporate delivery vehicles between parking locations and loading platforms, and ensure all mail and Canada Post property remains safe and secure at all times.

Responsibilities
Day-to-day life as a Mail Service Courier is active and varied. You’ll be responsible for the full cycle of mail handling — from loading and sorting right through to final delivery — while maintaining the high standards Canadians expect from Canada Post.
- Load and unload postal vehicles while keeping mail and Canada Post property safe and secure at all times
- Collect, sort, and deliver mail accurately and on schedule
- Operate portable communications devices as required during your shift
- Perform vehicle safety checks before and during use of corporate delivery vehicles
- Complete documentation and maintain accurate records throughout each shift
- Communicate professionally with customers and members of the public
- Shuttle corporate delivery vehicles between parking locations and loading platforms to support pre-loading operations
Requirements / Skills
Canada Post is looking for reliable, safety-conscious drivers who can hit the ground running on short notice. The ideal candidate brings professionalism to every shift and understands the importance of secure, timely mail delivery for communities across Ottawa.
- Valid Class 3/D driver’s licence (or higher) with the appropriate provincial Air Brake Endorsement — this is mandatory
- Clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years (a recent driver’s abstract or commercial driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be required)
- Physical fitness to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb)
- Availability to work on short notice — flexibility is essential for this on-call position
- Customer service experience is considered an asset
- Professional driving experience in commercial delivery is an asset
- Experience driving a 5-ton truck or larger is considered an advantage
