About the Role: Forklift Operator

As a Part-Time Picking Operator, you’ll be responsible for operating powered material handling equipment to move, locate, stack, and count product throughout the facility. A significant portion of your shift — roughly 80% — will involve hands-on operation of forklifts, clamp trucks, or other power equipment. You’ll also be cross-trained in both picking and packing, making this a varied and engaging position.

Attention to detail is critical in this role. You’ll be responsible for verifying load accuracy, checking inbound and outbound product for damage, and ensuring everything meets customer requirements and safety standards. Compliance with OSHA and MSDS regulations is a key part of daily operations, and maintaining a neat, organized work environment is expected of every team member.

This part-time position pays $23.50 per hour. Responsibilities

Day-to-day, this role keeps the warehouse running smoothly by ensuring product moves efficiently and accurately from receiving through to shipment. Strong organizational habits and safety awareness are essential, as you’ll be handling high-value components and operating powered equipment for the majority of your shift.

  • Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, and other powered equipment to load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials for 80% of each shift
  • Pick and prepare product for shipment, ensuring the correct number and types of product are loaded accurately
  • Verify load accuracy by checking load count, stability, and product condition, reporting any variances as needed
  • Maintain records and reports to support inventory accuracy throughout the facility
  • Inspect equipment daily and change batteries or LP tanks, monitoring power sources as required
  • Comply with all OSHA and MSDS standards to uphold a safe and regulated work environment
  • Assist with physical inventories and keep the facility’s equipment and materials clean and orderly

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings practical warehouse experience and a solid foundation in MHE operation, particularly with order pickers. DHL values candidates who are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and willing to grow their forklift certifications within the first weeks of employment.

  • Forklift operator certificate or commitment to completing a forklift training program within the first 30 days of employment
  • Minimum 6 months experience operating a Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) order picker
  • Picking and packing experience with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Ability to become MHE certified on an Order Picker (Cherry Picker) within the first 15 days of employment
  • Good computer skills to support inventory and record-keeping tasks
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Six months of general warehouse experience is preferred
