Job Summary & Tips for Applying

AI-generated summary and tips to help you highlight your strengths effectively.

Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Financial Analyst, Consolidation & Reporting position at Canadian Tire in Toronto sits within Corporate Accounting and focuses on monthly and quarterly close work, including journal entries in Hyperion Financial Management and intercompany elimination monitoring. A candidate should put their CPA progress and IFRS knowledge front of mind on their resume, as both feed directly into the consolidation and external reporting duties this role performs.

Resume & Application Tips: The posting names Hyperion Financial Management and Microsoft Excel explicitly, so include those terms where you have used them. Two or more years of experience in a month-end or consolidation role is the floor the posting sets, so quantify your close-cycle work where you can: for example, “Prepared 30+ monthly journal entries across three legal entities, reducing close time by two days.” If you are partway through your CPA, note the stage you have reached and your expected completion date.

Interview Preparation: Come ready with a specific example of a period-end error you caught through reconciliation or intercompany monitoring, and describe how you resolved it. The posting notes that output feeds into external reporting and that accuracy and timeliness are critical, so be prepared to speak to how you manage competing deadlines during a corporate close. Worth asking: how many legal entities are included in the HFM consolidation, and what the typical close timeline looks like from journal-entry preparation through to sign-off.
