About the Role: Associate Manager, Store Operations

Reporting to the Manager, Store Operations Best Practices, this position is responsible for leading the creation, sustainment, and deployment strategy of operational best practices across Canadian Tire’s national store network. You’ll work alongside Retail Execution Field Managers and corporate cross-functional teams, and you’ll help facilitate workshops and meetings with the Store Operations Dealer Committee to prioritize and develop in-store processes.

The role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution — developing operational plans, tracking program performance against KPIs, and ensuring that new initiatives are adopted smoothly at the store level. Strong communication and stakeholder management are central to how this role operates day-to-day.

The target salary range for this position is $68,000 to $75,000 CAD annually, depending on experience, skills, and other role-specific factors. Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be at the centre of how operational best practices are built and rolled out across Canadian Tire’s store network. From designing national programs to facilitating Dealer working groups, your day-to-day work directly influences how stores operate, what tools they use, and how effectively they serve customers. Here’s what you can expect to be working on:

  • Lead the creation of operational plans and best practices for national implementation, including scope, timelines, resource requirements, process design, and stakeholder analysis
  • Collaborate with Dealers, Regional Vice Presidents, and Retail Execution Field Managers to establish operational priorities and drive results
  • Facilitate and lead large-scale brainstorming sessions and program design workshops with Dealer working groups
  • Provide regular status updates to the AVP of Store Operations, Manager of Best Practices, and key stakeholders on program progress
  • Manage the development and functionality of Operational Health Checks (OE Tools)
  • Monitor program performance against KPIs and critical success factors, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Develop communication materials, presentation decks, and training plans for delivery to the field team via WebEx, in-person meetings, SharePoint, and conference calls
  • Create documentation, tools, and job aids to support the rollout of best practices across all store formats
  • Support new corporate programs with operational best practices to ensure smooth adoption and long-term sustainment at store level
  • Document feedback and suggestions to continuously refine and improve programs and initiatives

Requirements / Skills

Canadian Tire is looking for a results-oriented professional with deep retail operations knowledge and proven project management experience. The ideal candidate brings both strategic vision and the ability to execute — someone comfortable working across multiple stakeholder groups and comfortable leading in an environment of change. The following qualifications are key to success in this position:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive retail operations experience, with extensive acumen across logistics, merchandising, and eCommerce
  • 3–5 years of project management experience, with strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • University degree in business or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across various stakeholder groups at different levels of the organization
  • Strategic thinking ability, including experience building processes and/or policy from the ground up in a corporate or retail environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet various deadlines with attention to detail
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365; knowledge and experience with Frontier is an asset
  • Experience in eCommerce or technology fields is considered an asset
  • Willingness to travel periodically to Canadian Tire stores across Canada
