About the Role: Data Centre Operations III

This position sits within AWS Infrastructure Services, the team responsible for the design, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Day-to-day, you’ll be diagnosing and repairing computer hardware and network equipment, participating in power and cooling events, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues within defined service level agreements (SLAs). You’ll also take part in an on-call rotation as part of shift-based coverage.

Beyond technical work, this role involves contributing to team development, producing documentation, and identifying process improvements. Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize under pressure are key to success here. Candidates must also be able to obtain and maintain a Canadian Personnel Security Clearance as a condition of employment, which requires five years of continuous Canadian residency.

The starting pay for this position ranges from $32.00 to $42.00 CAD per hour in Calgary, AB. Final pay rate is based on factors including shift selection, location, and experience. On top of base pay, Amazon offers shift differentials, overtime pay, and performance bonuses where applicable. Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be the person ensuring that AWS data centre infrastructure stays operational and reliable at all times. From responding to critical incidents to mentoring teammates, the scope of work is both technical and collaborative. Here’s what a typical range of responsibilities looks like:

  • Providing onsite shift coverage and participating in weekly on-call rotations as part of the team schedule
  • Responding to high-severity events within defined SLAs to minimize disruption to cloud services
  • Participating in power and cooling events within the data centre environment
  • Performing break-fix maintenance on servers and network devices to restore functionality quickly
  • Troubleshooting network connections and diagnosing hardware-related issues independently
  • Coordinating with internal teams and third-party vendors to manage repairs and facility activities
  • Producing documentation and contributing to process improvements across data centre operations
  • Supporting the development of fellow team members through knowledge sharing and collaboration

Requirements / Skills

AWS is looking for someone with a solid foundation in computer hardware and networking who can work effectively in a high-stakes, round-the-clock environment. The ability to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and take ownership of problems is just as important as technical know-how.

  • 2+ years of experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
  • 1+ years of experience in computer networking
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian Personnel Security Clearance, including five years of continuous Canadian residency
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Experience supporting customers during problem resolution and working efficiently under pressure (preferred)
