About the Role: Data Centre Operations III
As a Data Centre Technician at AWS, your primary focus is keeping critical infrastructure running smoothly. You’ll handle server and network device repair, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and respond to high-severity incidents within defined service level agreements. The position involves on-site shift coverage as well as participation in an on-call rotation, ensuring that expert support is always available when it matters most.

Benefits and Salary
The starting pay for this position ranges from $32.00 to $42.00 CAD per hour for the Balzac, AB location. Final compensation will depend on shift selection, location, and experience. In addition to the base rate, Amazon offers shift differentials, overtime pay, and performance bonuses where applicable. Responsibilities
Working in a 24/7 data centre environment, this role demands technical precision and the ability to prioritize quickly. Every task — from hardware repair to vendor coordination — contributes directly to the reliability of AWS cloud infrastructure relied upon by customers worldwide.
- Provide onsite coverage as part of a team through shift rotations and weekly on-call duties
- Respond to high-severity incidents within defined service level agreements (SLAs)
- Participate in data centre power and cooling events, ensuring infrastructure stability
- Perform break-fix repairs on servers and network devices to restore operational status
- Troubleshoot network connections and diagnose hardware and connectivity issues
- Coordinate with internal data centre teams, third-party vendors, and contractors
- Identify and implement process and system improvements to increase team efficiency
- Support the development of fellow team members through knowledge sharing and collaboration
Requirements / Skills
AWS is looking for a technically capable and self-motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with computer hardware and networking, communicates clearly under pressure, and holds — or can obtain — the required Canadian Personnel Security Clearance.
- 2+ years of experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
- 1+ years of experience in computer networking
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian Personnel Security Clearance, including at least 5 years of continuous Canadian residency
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to establish priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Experience working with customers during problem resolution and performing well under pressure (preferred)
