About the Role: Corporate Counsel, Cloud Legal GTM

The Canada Cloud Legal GTM team supports a rapidly expanding suite of enterprise Google Cloud businesses. As Corporate Counsel, you’ll negotiate, draft, and structure enterprise commercial agreements — including strategic partnerships, cloud services contracts, AI-related terms, and cybersecurity agreements. You’ll work hand-in-hand with Cloud Sales executives, advising on agreement strategy, regulatory risk, contract interpretation, and transaction matters across commercial and public sector markets.

This is a highly collaborative role. You’ll partner regularly with Global Affairs and Cloud legal teams, as well as cross-functional stakeholders in Government Affairs and Public Policy, Finance, Deal Pursuit, Compliance, and Product. A key part of your mandate is helping drive continuous improvement in Cloud agreement-making — developing resources, fallbacks, and programmatic enhancements that scale with the business. Compliance with Canadian and international regulatory requirements is central to everything you do.

Responsibilities

As a senior member of the Canada Cloud Legal GTM team, your day-to-day work centres on enabling Google Cloud’s commercial operations through sound, business-oriented legal guidance. These responsibilities span enterprise deal-making, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration — all with real impact on Google Cloud’s growth in Canada.

  • Negotiate and draft enterprise commercial agreements including strategic partnerships, cloud services contracts, AI terms, data privacy clauses, cybersecurity provisions, IP arrangements, and regulatory terms
  • Advise Cloud Sales executives and team leads on agreement strategy, legal and business risks, contract interpretation, and customer relationship matters
  • Collaborate with legal and cross-functional stakeholder teams across Global Affairs and Cloud, including Government Affairs and Public Policy, Finance, Deal Pursuit, Compliance, and Product teams
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and broader international laws and applicable regulations across commercial and public sector markets
  • Drive continuous improvement of Cloud agreement-making processes through resource development, fallback creation, and programmatic enhancements
  • Support GTM initiatives in regulated sectors such as banking, telecommunications, and healthcare within the Canadian market

Requirements / Skills

Google is seeking a seasoned legal professional with deep experience in commercial and technology law, combined with the strategic instincts to thrive in a fast-paced enterprise environment. The ideal candidate brings strong business judgement alongside genuine legal expertise and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.

  • JD, LL.B., or equivalent degree or equivalent practical experience is required
  • Admitted to the bar in Canada and in good standing, or otherwise authorized to practise law (e.g., registered in-house status)
  • 7+ years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm
  • Knowledge of cloud services, AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, professional services, IP, and regulatory terms is a strong asset
  • Experience managing multiple agreements and projects simultaneously in a dynamic, changing environment
  • Ability to simplify complex legal issues for non-legal stakeholders, demonstrating sound business judgement and solution-driven thinking
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus and find balanced business and legal outcomes
